About Kratom

What is Kratom?

Kratom (Mitragyna speciosa) refers to a tropical evergreen tree in the Rubiaceae family, native to Southeast Asia. The plant produces broad leaves with a diverse spectrum of naturally occurring indole alkaloids, including mitragynine, 7-hydroxymitragynine, speciogynine, and paynantheine. These compounds are of phytochemical interest due to their structural complexity and distribution across different strains and geographic regions.

The leaves are traditionally classified by the vein color — red, green, or white — reflecting differences in leaf maturity, post-harvest treatment, and regional variation.

Which kratom type suits you?

The regional names do not come from where the product is grown; they are common industry names used to create a variety of products. The division of the powder into red, green, and white types is based on observable morphological differences. Although it is not a formal scientific taxonomy, this system makes it possible to categorize leaves based on harvest stage and post-processing characteristics:

White Kratom

Sourced from younger leaves, usually lighter in color. More energizing profile, e.g., for a scrub.

Green Kratom

Harvested at mid-maturity, with balanced color and texture. Balanced — a popular all-rounder.

Red Kratom

Typically from mature leaves, often darker after drying. Some red kratom products may be fermented. More calming profile, often used for an evening scrub.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is kratom legal?

The legal status of kratom varies depending on the country and local regulations. If you are unsure whether kratom is permitted where you live, we recommend reviewing current legislation before ordering. We have compiled an overview of kratom regulations across Europe in this blog post.

What is the difference between white, green, and red kratom?

White, green, and red kratom are industry terms used to describe differences in leaf maturity, processing methods, and appearance. While this classification is not a formal scientific taxonomy, it helps group products based on observable characteristics and post-harvest handling.

Where does your kratom come from?

Our kratom is sourced directly from producers in Indonesia, where the Mitragyna speciosa tree naturally grows. We operate our own Indonesian company to work closely with local farmers and coordinate sourcing, processing, and export. This allows us to maintain transparency, consistent quality standards, and full oversight of the supply chain.

Are there batch test reports?

Yes. Each product includes a link to the PDF test report with batch ID and date.

How should kratom be stored?

Kratom should be stored in a cool, dark, and dry environment. Proper storage helps preserve the botanical material and maintain its physical characteristics over time.

Is kratom intended for human consumption?

No. EUKratom sells kratom exclusively as a botanical raw material for technical, analytical, or research-related purposes. It is not intended for food, supplement, or medicinal use. Please refer to our Terms & Conditions for full details.
